Playing in Puddles

It was raining today, but Evan REALLY wanted to play outside. Carl had an excellent idea to take a walk in the rain. Evan was SO excited! We spent most of our walk looking for puddles and Evan splashed in EVERY one we found. He had lots of fun! (Carl and I really enjoyed watching him. He was super cute!)

Evan was a bit cautious when he came to the first puddle, but he did make a small splash.



Once Evan realized that it was o.k. to get wet and dirty, Evan had a blast jumping in the puddles!

Evan was all smiles as we finished our walk and came back home.

Evan's Closing Ceremony at Preschool

I was VERY excited to get to attend Evan's closing ceremony at preschool last week. Evan sang all of the songs with LOTS of enthusiasm! He was so cute! On the last song, Evan wanted to be sure I was watching him and kept running over to me and saying, "Do you see me?" It was so funny!

Evan had a great first year in preschool. I am so grateful to his teachers, Mrs. Kahne and Mrs. Stoess, who helped make his first school experience so wonderful.

Mothers' Day 2011

Mothers' Day was a lot of fun. We got to celebrate with Bonnie Mom by having brunch at house. Later, we picked up food from Olive Garden and took it over to my parents' house to celebrate Mothers' Day with Grammy. The best part of the day was taking all of the kids to the park after dinner. Everyone had so much fun! Carl was very helpful around the house on Mothers' Day, which was a very nice gift!

The walk to the park was fun. We must have been quite entertaining to everyone that saw us walking. We looked like a parade!

Carl took the boys out on the field to play a chasing game.



When the chasing game was over, the boys played a game where they tried to knock Carl off of the base. It was pretty funny!



Evan is my sweet little boy. I am so grateful to be his Mommy!

Oaks and Derby Festival

The weather in Louisville has been crazy for the past few weeks. It has been unseasonably cold and we have had lots of rain and flooding. This means that we were unable to attend some of the Derby Festival events, such as Doggie Day at Fest-a-ville and The Great Steamboat Race. We did get to go to some events though and we had a lot of fun!

The first event that we got to go to was The Balloon Glow. We had so much fun seeing all of the cool balloons. The new location provided a GREAT view of all of the balloons! (The new location also provided a headache when trying to leave. The traffic was TERRIBLE!)








Carl and I went to Opening Night at Churchill Downs on Friday night. This was a new event and we had a great time. While we were there, we met up with our friends Maurio and Toya. After the races, we we all went to dinner.






We took Evan to Fest-a-ville for dinner and some fun. Evan enjoyed dancing to the music and riding some kiddie rides. The BEST part though was that Evan and Daddy took a ride in a REAL helicopter! Evan was thrilled! (Daddy was not a fan of the helicopter, but he said it was fun to get to ride with Evan.)

Evan had fun looking out the window. He kept saying, "Look at that!"



When the helicopter landed, Evan wanted to go again!



The next event that we got to attend was Oaks Day. This was really fun for us because I got to walk in the Breast Cancer Survivors' Parade. We had fun watching the horses raceand Carl even won a race or two. The best part of the day was getting to walk in the parade.










On Derby Day, Carl attended the Derby with John. Terri and I took the boys to the zoo, which was really fun. We got to see the new bear exhibit, which is super nice. We also had dinner with the boys that evening and let the boys play together.

We saw a blimp when we got to the zoo. Evan really liked the blimp and wanted me to take a picture of it!



Our polar bear has returned! She loves her new home! We had fun watching her play. (The brown bears were fun to watch too!)



Evan LOVES this turtle at the zoo. I think the turtle likes Evan too, because it always swims over to see him when we visit.

Swimming Lessons

Evan has started swimming lessons. He really enjoys his time in the pool and we are hoping that he learns some basic swimming skills. Evan does pretty well in his swim class and he usually does what Miss Hannah asks him to do. This is pretty impressive, since she asks him to do things like go under the water to try to get dive sticks!

Easter 2011

Evan got to celebrate Easter a few different times this year. First, Evan got to participate in our church's Easter egg hunt the Sunday before Easter. The egg hunt is outside in a very large, wooded yard. Evan had fun searching for eggs in the more challenging area this year and Daddy helped him find several eggs! (Daddy said that being a bad golfer helped his egg finding skills!) Evan had an Easter party with his preschool class. He sang songs, had a special snack and looked for Easter eggs. The night before Easter we dyed Easter eggs, which Evan really enjoyed doing this year. On Easter Sunday, Evan woke us up and found his Easter basket and gifts in our room. He had so much fun playing with his new toys and eating candy for breakfast. Later, when there was a break in the rain, Evan got to play with his new bubble maker. Afterwards, we went inside to hunt for Easter eggs, since it was getting ready to rain again. We celebrated with family that night at dinner and Evan had fun getting candy and sand toys for our beach trip this summer. We ended the night at Bonnie Mom and Grandpa's house, where he got several gifts, including a new kite!
