On Sunday morning, we went to the beach. Evan and Preston both had fun, but Preston soon got too tired, so I took him back to the house to take a nap. Preston rallied and so after Brooke, Daddy, and Evan got back, we all had lunch and hung out by the pool for the rest of the afternoon.
At night, Carl and I went out for date night. We stopped by one of our favorite bars, Willie T's and then went to La Concha to see the sunset. Afterwards, we ate at one of our favorite restaurants, The Cafe, and then walked on the beach, where we saw another amazing full moon reflecting on the water. As a bonus, we figured out how to take a picture of the moon reflecting on the water!
Tuesday morning was another great day, so Carl and Daddy decided to go on a jet ski! Evan had a blast!
Preston looked so cute in his way to see Evan and Daddy!
Evan needed a rest after riding the jet ski. How funny!
Afterwards, Brooke, Evan, Preston and I stayed at the pool at Casa Marina. We eventually went back for lunch and naps. Later, we all headed to the beach, where Brooke, Daddy and Evan snorkeled. (Preston and I enjoyed splashing in the water, as well as playing fetch with a local dog, Odie.) After snorkeling, we all searched for sea glass, which is a favorite thing to do now, since Brooke pointed out all of the sea glass that can be found on the beaches. While searching, we saw a flying fish and we also learned how to search for shrimp in the seaweed that washes up on the beach!
At sunset, Evan, Daddy, and I went to White Street Pier to see the sunset and look for sea creatures. We saw lots of the usual things, such as barracudas, lobsters, crabs, etc. The best thing we saw though, was a SHARK! It was super cool and Evan is STILL talking about it! (Of course, I thought seeing the shark was really cool as well!)
Unfortunately, we have just one picture of the afternoon and evening activities and the picture is not of the shark. Oh well! We are just glad we had a good time!
Evan LOVES Key West! Here, he is excited to go snorkeling with Brooke and Daddy!
On Wednesday morning, we got up and went to the park. Preston had a good time swinging and exploring, while Evan had fun climbing to the highest places in the park. Once Evan got to a new high place, he would yell for me to take his picture!
After the park, Brooke, Daddy and Evan went to Casa Marina, while I stayed with Preston so he could nap. Brooke, Daddy, and Evan searched for sea glass, swam and went snorkeling. They saw lots of fish, lobsters, and even a conch!
After lunch, we all went to Casa Marina and we got there right in time for the popsicles! Everyone liked the popsicles, including Preston, who ate one for the first time. They were SO good! We swam for a bit and Evan, Daddy and Brooke also walked along the ocean looking for sea glass and sea life. Evan saw lots of tiny crabs on their adventure!
After naps, we went to Blue Heaven for dinner. It was a really cool place and I really enjoyed eating there. There was a band, which Preston loved. There was also sand for Evan to play in, as well as some cats and roosters that roamed the restaurant. It definitely had a unique, Key West feel to it!
Preston listened so intently to the band and clapped after each song. It was adorable!
Evan and Brooke: Silly Faces
On Thursday, we rented a car so that we could spend the day at Fort Zachary Taylor. We spent a lot of time snorkeling and we saw some really cool things, including several rays and a scorpion fish. Brooke even saw shark!
We did go back to the house so the boys could nap, but we went back to Fort Zachary Taylor for a picnic dinner and to see the sunset. Dinner was lovely and Evan and Daddy even got to snorkel a bit before we sat down to see the sunset. It was a really great day!
Preston's favorite part of the beach? The rocks!
On Friday, Evan woke up VERY early and then accidentally woke up Preston. Since we were up and no one else was, we decided to take a walk. We enjoyed seeing Key West so early in the day! We went to The Southernmost Point and took some pictures. (No one else was there!) We also saw a gigantic chair, which Evan loved! We then went home, where we had a relaxing morning and made a big breakfast. We then went to Casa Marina, until it was time for lunch and naps.
If you look VERY carefully, you can see the tiny lizard that Evan caught!
Evan made these awesome bracelets at Casa Marina. What a fun activity!
I was tired from getting up so early, so I also napped. Brooke and Carl went to the botanical garden, White Street Pier, and also to the beach. (While walking on the pier, they saw a shark and some rays!)
The best part of the day was at night, when Carl and I took a sunset cruise. It was a lot of fun and we saw an amazing sunset. It was a great date!
On Saturday, we all went to the botanical garden. We had fun taking pictures and seeing all of the iguanas. (I have never seen so many iguanas in one place before! We even saw a tree that was full of baby iguanas!)
We spent most of the rest of the afternoon at home in the pool. The boys were super tired and we just needed some down time. Evan watched quite a bit of t.v. and both Evan and Preston took good naps.
In the evening, we went to Salsa Loca, which just reopened. The food was delicious and we all enjoyed our meal. After dinner, we walked on White Street Pier again and saw 4 rays and another shark! Evan was so happy! (I actually had the camera out, but since it was getting dark, none of the pictures turned out too well. That's o.k. though!)
Evan wanted to show Brooke the big chair. I think this picture turned out great!
Evan wanted his picture taken, so I happily took his picture for him. What a cutie pie!
On Sunday, we spent a lot of the morning doing laundry, packing, and getting the house cleaned and in order. While Preston napped, Daddy, Brooke, and Evan went to the beach. (I stayed here to work more on getting ready to leave. I was happy to help. Plus, I figured Daddy should go to the beach since it is his birthday!) They had a great time snorkeling and even saw an octopus!
After lunch, we went to Casa Mariana. Evan was really excited about getting popsicles and thankfully, we made it there just in time! We played with the toys, swam in the pools and of course, Evan searched for sea life and sea glass!
Preston loves balls. At Casa Marina, he always found balls to play with. Usually he liked to play with the beach balls, but on the last day, he found these balls from the ladder golf game. He played with them almost the whole time we were there!
After nap time, we swam in the pool and then got ready for our final dinner and a walk on the pier. The walk on the pier was awesome and we got to see another shark! We also took lots of pictures. When we went to Salute. Sadly, they were very crowded and understaffed. After waiting a very long time for service and Preston becoming very fussy, we all just decided to go home and order pizza. It ended up being a fun evening with pizza and swimming, which was a relaxing way to end our lovely vacation.
We finally got a picture of one of the sharks we saw!
We had so much fun taking pictures! Here are some of my favorites!
Everyone had fun looking for sharks, rays, and other sea life.
We saw a beautiful sunset on our walk home. What a great view on our last night!
Our trip on the way back home was a bit more successful than our trip to Key West. The boys were both pretty happy on the car ride to Fort Lauderdale and only fussed a little bit. Preston did not enjoy the plane ride home and needed to be entertained A LOT, but thankfully he slept a bit and he did not throw up!
Evan saw Preston playing with his foot and he decided to see if he could touch his foot to his face too!
Preston slept for awhile on the plane! Yea!
Before I end, I wanted to add some pictures of Evan and Brooke. They are all good, but my favorite ones are the ones where they are being silly! We are so grateful to Brooke for coming with us. She was so helpful and she was tons of fun!
