3 Year Old Preschool is OVER!

Preston has done so well in 3 year old preschool. I am sad it is over, because he always had such a great time at school. It was a really great experience for him.

I was so worried about him at the start of the year, as 2 year old preschool was tough for him. He really hated leaving me each day and cried at most drop offs until near the end of the school year. He hated the programs and cried through those as well. He did alright from day to day, but it was not enjoyable for him and we were both sad.

This year has been totally different. He had another great teacher and he actually enjoyed going to school. He always talked positively about his day and told me what he did while he was at school. He made some really good friends and played well with others. He was a total ham at all the programs and it was so fun to see him perform. In addition to growing socially, he also grew academically as well. It was a FANTASTIC year! I am looking forward to a great summer and then a great 4 year old preschool experience in the fall. Way to go, Preston!

Career Week

Evan's school hosted a career week and Evan had a ball learning about different careers, college education and career training. He really enjoyed the special career presentations and his favorites were the bee keeper and the police officer. Evan also had a blast dressing up during the week. I loved his career choice of a UPS driver. He said that would be a fun job because the UPS drivers deliver toys to kids!

Mother's Day Celebrations

Whew! Mother's Day was super busy this year. The Congleton's were still here in the morning, since they were visiting for Derby and they stayed the night. The afternoon was spent getting the house back in order from the party, doing laundry, etc. We then napped and went to celebrate Mother's Day with my mom. We went out to dinner at Claudia Sander's Dinner House and we got back home just in time to get the boys bathed and in bed.

Carl and the boys surprised me a few days later with a special Mother's Day celebration for me! I came home after dinner with friends and found adorable cards, flowers and warm brownies! It was such a great surprise and I definitely felt super special, appreciated and loved.

I am so glad that I get to be a mother to these boys!

More treats!

Reunited!

We have not seen my sister and her family since Christmas and we have missed them very much. They were in town for just a few hours last week, so I took Evan out of school early and we all got to spend some much needed time together. We played at Grammy and Granddaddy's house, had doughnuts for breakfast and also played at the park. We had a wonderful time! They will be visiting again this summer and we will get to see them for three weeks! We are so excited!

I really enjoyed spending time with my niece and nephew, but I also enjoyed getting to spend time with my sister. I miss her so much!

Derby Festivities

Derby is one of our favorite times of the year. For two weeks, our city is filled with all sorts of different parties and events and we get to have lots of fun as we prepare for the big race.

We started off our Derby fun with Thunder Over Louisville. We enjoyed the air show, as well as time at the Chow Wagon. We also enjoyed the fireworks, although we did not see them all, due to lots of smoke.

Riding the bus was lots of fun!

We had to wake Preston up from his nap to catch the bus. He was SO sleepy!

Evan got cotton candy and he was so sweet and shared it with everyone.

Fun at the Chow Wagon!

Preston's school had Derby party and the kids got to ride real horses! Preston loved riding Nick, as well as getting his face painted, playing games and having a special ice cream treat.

We were able to enjoy The Great Steamboat Race and the rides at Fest-a-Ville. The weather had been terrible the day of the race and I didn't think we would be able to attend because of the storms. Thankfully, the weather cleared up right before the race and we were able to go. Sadly, The Belle of Louisville did not win, but we still had a great time!

Carl and I attended Oaks this year, which is becoming an annual tradition. We did not win ANY races, but we had lots of fun watching the races and hanging out with our friends.

The Congletons joined us for a Derby party on Derby Day. We had lots of fun with the kids, as they enjoyed the water slide, big bubble wands, sidewalk chalk and a pinata! We also had lots of fun watching the races and betting on the ponies. Carl even picked the trifecta for the big race! Grammy, Granddaddy and Ron joined us too and it was a really fun party.
