Fun in the Pool

It was very hot last Sunday, so we decided to let Evan play in his old baby pool. The water was quite cold, but Evan jumped right in! He had fun sliding, splashing and swimming. As you can tell from some of the pictures, Evan is pretty big and the baby pool is pretty small. I think we will be purchasing a larger pool soon!

Jimmy Buffett Concert 2010

Carl and I have been to a Jimmy Buffett concert each summer for the past few years. We always have a great time and we look forward to the concert every year. Although Jimmy was touring in the spring this year and the concert was on a Monday night, we still decided to drive up to Cincinnati for our annual "mini vacation." Our friend Ron went with us and we had a great time, even though it was cold and cloudy. Jimmy Buffett just has a way of making things fun! I am already lookig forward to going to next year's concert!

I have NEVER had to attend a Jimmy Buffett concert wearing jeans and a sweatshirt! I still made it work by adding a grass skirt and some leis!

"I Pet Fish!"

The other night I went to check on Evan, who was playing VERY quietly in the basement. I came around the corner to find that he had crawled up onto the counter, opened the aquarium, and managed to catch one of his fish! He smiled happily when he saw me and exclaimed, "I pet fish!" I panicked and yelled for Carl, but managed to get the fish out of Evan's hands and back into the aquarium before Carl made it down to help. Thankfully, the fish recovered quickly and is still alive and well! I guess the man at the pet store was truthful when he said the type of fish we picked are easy to care for and hard to kill!

Here is a picture of Evan's fish happily swimming in their aquarium. I am hopeful that Evan has learned that the fish must stay in the aquarium!

Evan's New Play House

We have FINALLY finished Evan's play house. It took a long time and a lot of hard work, but it was definitely worth it. Evan LOVES his new play house. Carl did a great job building the play house and we know it will provide lots of fun for many years to come.

Oaks and Derby

Carl and I had a great time at Oaks. Like last year, Oaks Day was a "pink out" for breast cancer awareness. Breast cancer survivors were also honored during a parade on the track before the race. The weather for Oaks was beautiful and we had great seats for the races. We had a wonderful time and we were very happy to participate in the "pink out" and the parade.

We usually have a Derby party, but this year, Carl and his friend John made plans to attend Derby. The weather turned out to be awful and so we made a slight change in our plans. Carl, Evan, and I went to Incredible Dave's in the morning for lunch and some fun on the bouncers, slides, and jungle gym. John, Terri, Levi and Luke joined us. Afterwards, we headed back to our house so that the boys could nap. After naps, we all enjoyed watching the races. Carl's parents and his sister and brother-in-law joined us later in the evening and we all watched the Derby together. Everyone had a great time, especially Levi and Evan, who are great buddies. Unfortunately, I totally forgot to take any pictures of our impromptu gathering. On a good note, I picked the Derby winner for the first time in years!

More Derby Fun

Our whole family had lots of fun in the days leading up to Derby. We took the dogs to Happy Tail Hour at Fest-a-Ville. Evan was excited to see all of the different types of dogs. Many of the people at the event were very kind to Evan and let him pet their dogs. Evan also had fun in the big bouncers and on the merry-go-round. Reece and Parker enjoyed the nice walk and getting to celebrate Derby!

This picture cracks me up. Evan was asking me not to take his picture. It was as if he was some famous movie star and I was part of the paparazzi! He is too funny!




We also enjoyed the boat race. We were happy to have John, Terri, Levi, and Luke join us to see The Belle of Louisville and The Belle of Cincinnati race. Evan and Levi liked seeing the boats as they raced past us. They also enjoyed seeing the hot air balloons and the helicopter and playing on the playground.

The Belle of Louisville couldn't beat The Belle of Cincinnati this year. Hopefully we will win bext year!

Painting Pottery

My Young Survivors Group recently held a family event at The Paint Spot, which is a place to paint pottery. I was excited to take Evan and thought he would have a great time painting. Evan did have a great time, but the painting part of the day only lasted a few minutes! Evan had much more fun watching Daddy paint and eating!

Here are two pictures that I took right when Evan started painting. He only painted for a few minutes, so I was glad that I took pictures early on!
