Family Fun Days

Carl was off for four full days on Memorial Day weekend, which was really nice. He had been working really long hours and were were happy to get to spend time with him! We were excited about the opening of the pool and we spent quite a bit of time there, as the boys had fun swimming and jumping of of the diving board. We also enjoyed playing in the sprinkler, going fishing, playing with bubbles, seeing family, playing with water balloons. The boys also got to have a sleep over at Grammy and Granddaddy's house while Carl and I went to Abbey Road on the River.

The weekend after Memorial Day was also full of family fun! We enjoyed time at the pool, but we also we to Lego Kidsfest and the Wings for Kids Air Show. We did not stay too long at the Wings for Kids Air Show, because it started to rain. We did enjoy seeing several planes fly and enjoyed the candy drop! Lego Kidsfest was amazing and completely exceeded our expectations. There was lots to do, including building, seeing cool Lego creations, playing games and more!

Wings for Kids Air Show

Lego Kidsfest was SO much fun! We will definitely go back if it comes back to town!

Both boys liked all of the cool Lego creations. Preston was too busy running from one to the other to pose for pictures!

Everyone enjoyed the Ninjago battle stations!

Building and racing vehicles was lots of fun!

Silly boy!

The grown ups had fun too!

Evan used Daddy's creation to finish his masterpiece at the creation station.

The Star Wars Lego creation sets were super cool. We all had fun making silly character with all of the different pieces.

Evan's Final Day of Second Grade

Evan finished second grade at the end of May, which is the earliest I can remember school getting out in a VERY long time. Although he had a really great year, filled with learning, friends, new experiences and lots of fun, he and I were really glad for school to end and for the summer fun to begin! I mean, who doesn't want to trade in getting up early, working hard and school, and doing homework, for sleeping in, a laid back schedule, fun at the pool, hiking, fishing, vacation, etc?

As usual, Evan had lots of fun posing for pictures!

Evan was really excited to catch a toad on the last day of school! He thought it was a great start to summer!

As I was getting ready to catch up on my blog, I started to go through pictures and realized that I did not post about getting to go on Evan's class field trip to the zoo, so I am adding it here. Better late, than never!

I had a great time getting to chaperone Evan's field trip. His group included all of his good buddies, including Parker, Ahmed, Zachary and Sharaun. The kids had fun and I did too. I was so happy to be able to spend time with Evan and his friends.

Girls' Weekend 2016 - Tims Ford Lake

In late May, I joined my friends from college for our annual girls' weekend. Although we only see each other once or twice a year, when we meet up, it truly is as if we have haven't been apart. We have been there for each other through both joyous and extremely sad times and our friendship is definitely cherished. I am so glad to have such a wonderful group sisters.

As we have done for the past few years, we gathered at Stacey's parents' lake house. The weather was crummy on Friday night, but we still had fun making dinner and talking until late at night.

We woke to BEAUTIFUL weather on Saturday and we were able to get out on the lake. We took the boat around the lake and then to a casual lunch at the Blue Gill, which is a great little restaurant on the lake. We also got to go jet skiing! We spent the night grilling, talking, and playing games and it was fantastic.

I am happy to have such wonderful friends, but I was also SO glad to get back to my family. Carl did an EXCELLENT job with the kids and they even had a camp out in the back yard, complete with a fire, s'mores and an attempt at sleeping outside in a tent! They also had breakfast at McDonald's which is a favorite treat and spent time at the park. I am lucky to have some really great friends, but I am lucky to have a really great husband too!

After the rain, came the rainbow!

Fun on the boat!
