Father's Day 2018

We had a great time celebrating all of the amazing fathers in our family. We are so lucky to have such great people in our lives!

We celebrated Granddaddy with a dinner at Red Robin and then some play time with the boys. Dad was a great father to me as I was growing up and he continues to be an amazing dad and grandfather now. Granddaddy is an amazing grandfather to our boys. He always finds something super fun to do when they are around and he is genuinely happy to have them around. In fact, he always seems disappointed when their time together is over. 

We had a big cook out with all of the Koontz side of the family to celebrate Grandpa. I think everyone had a great time, but the kids really enjoyed playing together. Preston really enjoys playing video games with Grandpa and both boys like it when he takes them to do fun things like walk the pedestrian bridge or go to the Key West Nature Preserve.

On Father's Day, we finally got to celebrate Daddy. We went all out this year! The kids made some awesome cards and they loved wearing their shirts to celebrate their "rad dad." We even surprised him with the special Millennium Falcon that he has been wanting, but would never purchase for himself. He was really excited! We spent most of the day at a swim meet. It was super hot, but we had fun watching the boys swim and dive. We ended the night at Los Aztecas and cuddling on the couch. It was a really great day.

Evan - Soccer and End of Fourth Grade

Evan finished his soccer season with Chancey, which was a really fun experience for him. They had a great season with only one loss, until the tournament. Unfortunately, Chancey lost their game in shoot out, after a tied game. He was a little sad, but the season was great. He learned a lot and made a lot of friends as well. We all had a great time going to his games. They were so much fun to watch!

As the school year was wrapping up, Evan presented his year long service project at Chancey's Got Talent. He helped by raising funds for The Arrow Fund. He was able to raise over $400 before the event, but several people donated more money after seeing his project! He was really excited about that! 

Evan has his last day of school on May 31st. He was actually a bit sad, as he said he was going to miss his friends.  I think he will be perfectly happy, once he starts his summer break and has fun with his friends on the swim team and in the neighborhood. 

 

We are really proud of Evan's hard work in fourth grade. He was in the advanced program and he did really well. He had all As and Bs on his report card all year! He learned a lot and had a lot of fun as well. We are excited to have a fifth grader now!

Goodbye, Preschool!

Preston had his closing program for preschool this week and he is now completely done with preschool. He has attended MUMP for four years and it has been such a great experience for him. He really loved junior kindergarten with Mrs. Crite. He learned so much and he really enjoyed going to school each day. He is excited to go to school with Evan next year, when he goes to kindergarten!

Mrs. Crite and Mrs. Henderson were great teachers. We will miss them!

Bonnie Mom and Grandpa had a special party for Preston. He had so much fun!

Mother's Day

We had a very busy weekend celebrating Mother's Day. We went to dinner with Grammy on Saturday and had Bonnie Mom, Grandpa and the Amshoff family over for brunch on Mother's Day. It was nice to spend time together and I think both Bonnie Mom and Grammy felt very loved and appreciated.

Preston was very excited about Mother's Day. He made me a card and brought it in to my room bright and early in the morning. He also found one of my bracelets and gave that to me too. He is a sweetie.

Derby Festival Fun!

Derby time is always such a fun time here in Louisville. There are so many fun things to do around town and we always look forward to having friends and family join us at our annual Derby party. Overall, we had great weather for this year's Derby festival. Preston was able to go on his final field trip to Pony Tales Farm, which is always lots of fun to do around Derby time. Bonnie Mom and I completed the mini-marathon and we went to the boat race and enjoyed the rides at Fest-a-ville. Carl and I also attended Oaks with Bonnie Mom and Grandpa, which was lots of fun. Derby Day was awful weather and there was a ton of rain and storms. Thankfully, we were able to stay warm and dry at our indoor party!

Pony Tales Farm was lots of fun. Preston got to ride the gator, play games, bounce in the bounce house, play on the new playground, ride a horse and play with kittens. He had a great time and he especially enjoyed the kittens.

The Belle of Louisville was not the winner of The Great Steamboat Race, but we had a great time at the race and at Fest-a-ville.

I was SO excited that Carl wanted to dress up for Oaks this year! We had a great time with Bonnie Mom and Grandpa. 

Uncle Ron found this HUGE box of chocolates for our Derby party. The kids were amazed to see so much candy!

Derby Day Fun

Happy 6th Birthday, Preston! (Thunder Over Louisville 2018)

Preston is now 6 years old! He is finishing junior kindergarten and he is SO ready to go to school with Evan. He has been VERY excited about his birthday and we have been counting down the days since early February! I love his excitement!

Preston started his birthday celebration with a party. He was excited to have most of his family attend, including The Amshoffs, Bonnie Mom, Grandpa, Grammy and Granddaddy. We had a great Super Mario themed party and Preston had a great time. The neighborhood kids even joined us for cake, which was nice. Maybe we will start having more friends come to parties!

On Saturday, it was Thunder Over Louisville day. We headed downtown for rides, fair food and swimming at the hotel. The Amshoffs joined us around dinner time and we all had fun enjoying the fireworks from the Humana building.

Sunday was Preston's actual birthday and he celebrated with a special sprinkle doughnut at the hotel breakfast buffet. We then headed home for presents, which Preston really loved. It was a great weekend!

Preston finished his birthday celebration at preschool. He is the first junior kindergarten student to turn 6 years old and he is THRILLED!

We can't wait for the coming year! There are lots of fun adventures ahead! We love you, Preston!
