HCCC Swim and Dive - Summer 2014

Wow! What a season! Evan just completed his second year on The HCCC Swim and Dive Team. He did great last year and we have been blown away by his progress this year!

Evan had an awesome dive coach, Helen, that quickly got him ready to compete in the meets this year. He did well each meet and always dove with great confidence. He even came in third place in his dive competition in his final meet!

As for swimming, Evan was advanced enough to compete in the backstroke races and placed third in each meet for that event! He also competed in relay events at each meet. He was able to place in several relays with his team, including a third place finish and two first place finishes!

Due to vacation, Evan is done with swim and dive for this season. We are a bit sad about that, but we are SO pleased with Evan's progress and effort this year. Evan had fun, made friends, supported his teammates, and was an important part of the team. Way to go, Evan!

Evan was SO excited for the first swim and dive meet of the season!

In addition to Mommy, Daddy, and Preston, Evan had lots of people to cheer him on at the meets!

Father's Day Fun

Like many holidays, we spread the Father's Day celebration over several days. Spreading the celebrations out is actually very nice and allows us to spend more quality time with everyone and be a lot less stressed.

We started with a Father's Day celebration for my dad. He and Mom came over for dinner at our place, followed by lots of playing in the backyard. Evan had an especially good time playing basketball with Granddaddy and Dad and Preston enjoyed learning how to blow bubbles!

Bubbles!

Evan celebrated after an awesome shot!

Me and Dad (I am so very grateful for my dad. He is so kind, caring, giving, supportive, and more. We certainly could not have made it through the last several months without him and mom!)

We did not have an official Father's Day celebration with Grandpa, but Carl and I were able to spend an evening with him and Bonnie Mom the evening before Father's Day. We went to Downs After Dark at Churchill Downs and watched several races. We had a good time and we were happy to get to see them both, especially since they were headed back to Key West, after a brief visit to Louisville. (We are excited to visit them both in Key West next week!)

We celebrated Carl on Father's Day! He wanted to have a laid back day, so I took Evan to his first swim and dive meet, while he stayed at home with Preston. Evan did very well at his meet and even placed in two of his races!

After the meet, Evan and I headed home, where we had a fun evening with Carl. We had dinner, played on the Slip and Slide, played with water rockets, ran through the sprinkler, played in the water table, and tried to make ice cream. (The ice cream was more like a super soft milk shake, but it still tasted good!) It was a great evening and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Evan was SO excited for the first swim and dive meet of the season! (He is getting to dive in the meets this year!)

Bonnie Mom was able to join us at the meet!

I am so proud of Evan! He is working so hard!

The Slip and Slide was tons of fun!

Happy Father's Day, Carl! We all love you very much and we appreciate all that you do for us! You are a wonderful husband and father and the boys and I are grateful for ALL that you do!

Kindergarten Memories

Evan recently competed his first year of "big kid" school. He had a very successful year in kindergarten, in which he made a lot of academic progress and excelled socially. He had a great time and always looked forward to going to school. (I am very thankful that he enjoys learning and that he enjoys school.) We are so proud of our sweet boy and we are looking forward to success in first grade!

Evan was all smiles after his closing ceremony! (I did not get any good pictures of the ceremony, but that is ok. I was able to take lots of pictures afterwards!)

Evan made many good friends this year! I am happy that he was able to establish such good friendships with such great kids!

Evan was so fortunate to have so many people that came to see his closing ceremony! He is certainly loved!

Evan's Kindergarten Class

The last day of school was extra fun and included lots of treats!

Evan had many teachers this year, including homeroom teachers that taught science and social studies, literacy teachers, math teachers and even special area teachers! Here are some pictures of his main teachers.

Mrs. Stone - Literacy and Math Teacher

Mrs. Priddy - Literacy and Math Assistant

Mrs. Walker - Homeroom Assistant (A.K.A. "The World's Best Assistant")

Mrs. Reynolds - Homeroom Teacher

Mommy - Homeroom Teacher (I was so busy at school, that I did not take a picture of us there, so we took one once we got home!)

I was SO fortunate to get to teach Evan this year, as well as having Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Reynolds take care of my sweet boy on the days that I was not at school. They are WONERFUL and I am so happy that Evan was able to be taught by these great ladies!

Alpha Gam Girls' Weekend 2014

Our annual girls' weekend trip usually involves a spa, dinners out, etc. We always have fun, but this year, we decided to change our plans a bit! We decided to go Stacey's parents' lake house on Tims Ford Lake. Even though the weekend was different than usual and very different than planned, we had a wonderful time!

Anne and I left Louisville on Friday afternoon and met up with Terri in Bowling Green. The three of us then travelled together to the Lake House, where we met up with Stacey and Shannon. We spent the night exploring the house, eating, and talking and it was perfect!

We woke up on Saturday to very cool weather and lots of rain. We spent most of the morning sitting around and talking and then went to lunch in a small town nearby. We did a bit of shopping and then went back to the house to relax, watch a movie, and wait for Emily and Melanie to arrive.

Once the rest of the ladies arrived, we spent the evening doing most of what we did the previous night. We ate, talked, played games, and enjoyed each other's company. (Did I mention that we stayed in our sweats all weekend? It definitely made the weekend super relaxing!)

On Sunday, it was still cool, but it had stopped raining, so we spent the morning eating breakfast on the porch and chatting.

I had fun, but was super ready to get back to see all three of my boys, so we headed home after cleaning up.

Like all of our girls' weekends, we all had a great time! I am hopeful that next year everyone will be able to join us!

On the way to Tims Ford Lake!

How sweet!

Everyone finally made it!

Anne and I got stuck in a major traffic jam on the way home, in which were stuck in standstill traffic for a VERY long time. We managed to keep ourselves entertained though!
