Memorial Day Weekend

We all had a great time on Memorial Day weekend. We went to the splash park, had dinner with friends, went to Churchill Downs, went swimming, had our family Christmas party, had a family cookout, visited Henry's Ark, and went to Abbey Road on the River. Of course, we also observed Memorial Day by visiting Great Granddaddy's grave to place American flags and remember all of his Great Grandfathers that served our country and all of the other brave soldiers.

Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Evan had a great time at the splash park!

Here is a picture of all of the kids, except Maggie, at the Christmas party. It was REALLY hard to get them all to sit still, let alone look at the camera and smile!

(I know some of you are wondering, "Why did they have a Christmas party in May?" Aunt Linda had to have brain surgery in December and has been in physical therapy for the past few months. Since she is now feeling good, we able to get together and celebrate Christmas! It was a lot of fun and everyone is SO thankful that Linda is well!)

At our family cookout, Evan, Jackson, and Caleb enjoyed playing in the pool and trying to splash Granddaddy.

Evan ate his first ice cream cone and LOVED it!

Evan, Jackson, and Caleb are best buddies!

Evan loved the animals at Henry's Ark.

Evan danced to the music at Abbey Road on the River.

Evan LOVED his first sips of lemonade!

Carl and I enjoyed a Beatles cover band at night.

Visiting Great Granddaddy's grave to thank him and all of our soliders.

Visitng Great Grandma, Meeting Marlee, and Jamie's Graduation

As you can tell by the title, we recently had a very busy weekend! We went to Alcoa, Tennessee, to celebrate Jamie's high school graduation, meet Sarah's new baby, Marlee, and visit Evan's Great Grandma.

Evan had a great time on our trip. When he met baby Marlee, he went up to him and said, "Baby!" He then gave Marlee a big kiss. It was SO cute!

Here is Sarah with her son, Marlee.

Evan also enjoyed feeding the ducks and geese while we were in Alcoa. Great Grandma was even able to ride to the park with us to watch Evan.

Evan really enjoyed visiting Great Grandma. She really enjoyed our visit. We had a great time too!

Jamie's graduation party was really fun. Evan enjoyed running around and playing with the balloons.

Oaks and Derby

Oaks day was really fun this year. Komen of Louisville had a fundraiser that day, with proceeds going to breast cancer research and awareness. As part of the activities for the day, Carl and I, along with some great friends, got to walk in a parade around the track at Churchill Downs. It was really cool. Carl and I both had a great time and we were happy to participate in such a great event.

Evan had a great time at our Derby party this year. He had fun playing with his friends, Siena, Levi, and Lana. He also enjoyed playing with his cousins, Jackson and Caleb. Carl and I also had fun seeing our friends and family too!

Playing in the Sprinkler

A couple of weeks ago, it was really warm, so we decided to let Evan play in the sprinkler. We figured he would like it, since he loves taking a bath and playing in the pool. We were surprised to find that Evan DID NOT like the sprinkler. He cried when the water sprinkled him. (It turns out that the water was really cold, which is why he cried. Daddy figured this out when he got sprinkled!) After some coaxing, Evan did enjoy running through the sprinkler with Daddy. He also enjoyed playing with the water in a watering can after we turned the sprinkler off. He is such a funny guy!

More Derby Festival Fun

We went to The Great Steamboat Race again this year. Evan loved watching the boats. He also enjoyed the hot air balloons that were there and running around and playing too.

While we were at the boat race, Evan also rode a pony. You can't tell from the picture, but he had a great time!

Derby Festival Fun

On Friday night, we went to the Balloon Glow. Evan LOVED seeing all of the balloons. He kept pointing to each balloon and saying, "boon!" He also enjoyed seeing his cousins, Uncle Josh, Aunt Heather, Grammy, and Granddaddy. Even though he was quite tired, he managed to stay awake and enjoy the festivities. (The quality of the following pictures are not great, but I think they show what a good time we all had!)

On Saturday morning, Evan and I went downtown to cheer for Carl as he ran the mini marathon. Evan loved cheering for all of the runners. He was very proud of his Daddy and he got a HUGE smile on his face when he saw Carl running. Evan also enjoyed wearing Carl's medal.

Saturday afternoon we all went to Churchill Downs. Evan enjoyed the horses, but he kept calling them dogs!

Here is a picture of Evan picking his favorite horse!

Here is a picture of Evan looking at the "dogs" with Daddy.
