Ever since Evan transitioned from him crib to his toddler bed, he has been known for falling asleep in the silliest positions and places. I don't know how he is comfortable when he sleeps, but he is! Here are some older pictures of Evan in his weird sleeping positions, as well as some recent ones. He cracks me up!
This is one of my favorite pictures of Evan. He is sleeping UNDER his toddler bed!
In this picture, Evan has moved his pillow and blanket from his bed so that he can sleep in a pile of toys!
In this picture, Evan fell asleep on the family room floor. (His legs are in the air and stayed that way while he napped!)
I took this picture last week. He is hanging off the bed!
I also took this picture last week. He is asleep on the floor! (He had been asleep in his bed earlier that night. I have no idea why he moved to the floor!)
Here is one last picture that I recently took. Evan is sleeping the wrong way on the bed and without any covers!

Preston's Nursery
Now that Preston is 12 weeks old, I have FINALLY been able to add the finishing touches to his nursery and I now consider the room to be complete! We started working on the room many months ago. Carl started by clearing out the furniture and other items from the room, which used to be our guest room. He then put up crown moulding, which made the room look much nicer. He also put in a new ceiling fan with a light fixture. My dad then painted the room for Preston and we moved all of Preston's furniture and other baby items into the room. We put up some paintings that my friend Angie made for Preston, as well as some personalized wall decals. In the last several weeks, we have added some personal touches, including a decorative pirate ship that Carl painted, a yellow pillow made by Stephanie and some photographs. The room looks great and Preston LOVES it, just like we do!
Carl worked hard to get the room ready and Evan liked helping him! (Granddaddy painted the room while we were at work, so I do not have any pictures. We really appreciate the help though!)
Carl assembled the crib, which was much easier the second time around!

Preston's Closet (It is filled with lots of adorable clothes!)

Jamie and Zach's Wedding
On Friday, July 13th, we headed down to Tennessee for Jamie and Zach's wedding. We had lots of fun at the wedding and the reception. Jamie and Zach love each other so much and we were glad that we got to go and be a part of their special day! (Evan said that Jamie and Zach looked "so much happy" and we agree!) We also had some time to visit with Grandma, Karol and Larry while we were in Tennessee. As always, we had a great time and were are looking forward to our next trip, which we hope will be this fall.
Preston smiled and talked to Grandma quite a bit on our trip, which made Grandma VERY happy!
Evan and Preston love Grandma SO much!

Happy Boys
Silly Boys
Evan found a mommy kitty and her babies at Aunt Karol's house. Evan LOVED the kittens and played with them all morning. (Karol said the mommy kitty is not too friendly and never lets anyone touch her. She loved Evan though and allowed him to pet her and and play with all of her kittens. I started calling Evan The Cat Whisperer!)

Fun at Huber's Family Farm
Last week we were invited to go to Huber's Family Farm with Terri, Levi, Luke and David. We were excited to have the chance to have some fun with our friends! We started off by having lunch at a cafe. The food was really good and all of the boys were very good while we ate. After lunch we headed over to "pan for gold." The boys had lots of fun and everyone found lots of treasure! We then went to the petting zoo, where we fed the horses, donkeys, deer, cows and geese. The boys played on the playground, went down the big "mountain slide" and tried hard to complete the rope maze. (The boys all thought the maze was pretty easy, since they went over and under most of the ropes!) We ended our trip by having ice cream and doing a little shopping in the market. The ice cream was very yummy and we got lots of great fruit at the market.
Terri showed everyone how to find treasure! It was lots of fun!
Luke and Evan enjoyed petting all of the animals.
As usual, Preston slept through most of our trip! I am glad that he is so laid back and that he sleeps easily in many different places.
Levi and Evan enjoyed playing together on the playground.
Evan was SO tired after our trip. We sang together for awhile on the way home, but he fell asleep before long and I lost my singing partner!

Sleepy Smiles
Preston has smiled in response to us smiling at him for a few weeks now, but he has smiled when falling asleep since he was born. It is the sweetest thing to watch him smile as he drifts off to sleep. He is a precious little boy and we love him so much!
Pictures
We have had two professional photo sessions this year. Our first one was in the spring. We had maternity pictures made, as well as pictures of Evan and family pictures. We were very pleased with Kylene's photography skills and the pictures turned out great! She was not available to take Preston's pictures once he arrived, so we asked Courtney to take pictures for us. (Courtney took pictures for us at Preston's birth.) She did a great job and got some cute pictures of Preston and some of Evan holding Preston as well. (This was quite a feat. Evan was not really in the mood to have his picture taken when Courtney was here!)
Here are a few of our favorite pictures from both photography sessions.

Carl's Broken Foot and The 4th of July
On Monday, July 2nd, Carl was running around in the backyard and hurt his foot. It was very painful and quickly became swollen, but since all of the urgent care facilities were closing, he took some pain medicine and decided to wait until the next day to get it checked out. On Tuesday morning, Carl's foot was less swollen and felt better, but he went to the urgent care center just to make sure it was o.k. Unfortunately, he called me and said he was coming home because his foot was broken AND sprained. The doctor at the urgent care center gave him a boot to keep it from moving. Carl made an appointment with a specialist to get more information and additional treatment, but since it was a holiday week, the earliest appointment we could get was on Friday. In the meantime, we decided to get a scooter to help Carl get around and to continue with our plans to celebrate the 4th of July with our friends.
Wednesday was the 4th of July and we started off the day by swimming with Susan, Carl and Clara at our pool. The pool was super crowded, but it was lots of fun. There was music, games, snow cones, etc. I stayed with Preston who mostly slept, but he did take a dip in the pool with me for a few minutes. Carl, Susan, Evan, Carl and Clara spent most of the time swimming. Later in the afternoon, we came back to the house and Travis, Ashley, Trevor, Ashlynn, Aunt Rachel, Uncle Teddy, Caroline, Grandpa and Bonnie Mom joined us for our celebration. We decorated the kids' bikes and headed up to participate int the parade. The kids' had lots of fun, despite the heat and being told that there would be no fireworks due to the extreme heat and lack of rain. To make things fun, after the parade we came back home and played with water balloons and bubbles. The kids also had fun playing on the play house and Evan FINALLY decided that he really could swing all by himself! Grammy and Granddaddy joined us later in the evening and brought some sparklers, which were lots of fun.
On Friday, we went to see the specialist about Carl's foot. Carl had done a lot of research and found out that there were lots of treatment possibilities. Treatments ranged from a walking cast/boot to surgery. We were hoping that Carl could get the walking cast/boot! Unfortunately, the doctor said that Carl would heal best with a cast. He was told no walking, driving, swimming, etc. for at least four weeks. What a disappointment! This meant that things would be challenging for us all and that we could not go on vacation. BUMMER!
We are currently adjusting to life with a broken foot. We have changed lots of things around the house so that Carl can be as independent as possible and help when he can. We have also decided to go to Key West during Thanksgiving week. We are all also trying to work together and to keep a positive attitude!
Preston had fun relaxing at the pool.
Evan enjoyed his first snow cone.
Preston got dressed up for his first 4th of July. (Evan wore the same onesie. I was excited that they both could wear the same outfit!)
The kids had fun decorating their bikes for the parade.
Evan was proud of his bike!
The parade was lots of fun! Evan, Carl, Clara and Trevor enjoyed riding their bikes.
Carl was a good sport and decorated his scooter for the parade!
Carl and I enjoyed the 4th of July festivities.
Water balloons were fun for hours.
Carl and the bog boys enjoyed making really big water balloons! (Carl got very wet after he landed on this giant water balloon!)
Evan liked the sparklers. (He was not at all afraid of them, which doesn't surprise me. He is not afraid of much!)
Granddaddy had lots of fun helping Evan with the sparklers. (Evan was happy to get to see Granddaddy, who had been doing mission work in Belize for 2 weeks.)
Here is Carl today (7/10/12). He gets around pretty well with the scooter and his crutches. (He evens goes on walks with his crutches!)
