Spring Break 2017

We decided to stay close to home for spring break this year. We made several overnight trips, as well as had fun here in town. We were all exhausted by the end of the week, but we had SO much fun!

The boys started their spring break by spending the night with Grammy and Granddaddy. They had lots of fun and Carl and I were able to have a nice date night at our favorite hibachi restaurant.

We went to Cincinnati on Saturday and planned to go the aquarium. Unfortunately, the aquarium was SUPER crowded, so we passed on that and went to an arcade instead. All the kids had a great time and I think Carl and Teddy had a pretty good time too! Afterwards, we had lunch at a local burger place, which was really good. We spent the rest of the day relaxing, swimming, walking across this bridge and playing on the playground, and celebrating Caroline's birthday. The next day we went to the Cincinnati zoo.

On Monday, the Congleton family visited us. They boys had lots of fun playing here, as well as at Hays Kennedy park. We were having so much fun, that we decided to spend time with them in Owensboro! Evan went back with the Congleton family and got to have his first real sleepover with friends, without me and Carl. The next morning, Preston and I headed to Owensboro. We spent the day jumping on the trampoline, playing and going to a couple of different playgrounds. We spent the night before heading back home to see Daddy.

We had hoped to go to Red River Gorge, but the weather was going to include severe storms, so we had to skip that. Daddy went to work, but the boys and I went to Malibu Jack's. Bonnie Mom and Grandpa joined us, which was nice. The boys had not seen them since they went to Key West in early January, so they were very happy to see them.

We had a lazy day on Thursday, but we did squeeze in a dinner at Los Aztecas with Grammy and Granddaddy.

We took a trip to the Indianapolis Children's Museum on Friday. It was AMAZING! Both boys were big enough to do all of the activities and enjoy all of the exhibits. We spent almost the whole day there! We spent the rest of the night swimming and then doing a little shopping before having pizza back at the hotel. The kids were tired the next day, but we did have fun at White River State Park before heading home.

Our last day of spring break was spent here in Louisville. We walked the new bridge and saw a bald eagle! We also played at the park. In the evening, we went fishing and went to Dairy Queen for an ice cream treat!

March 17th, 2017 - Muffins with Mom, St. Patrick's Day and the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament

March 17th was a very busy day for us! Our day started off early, as both boys were excited about Muffins with Mom and got up around 6:15. We got ready and went to Evan's school. I was pleasantly surprised that we got a good parking spot, as I have had to park really far away in past years. The close spot meant a short walk, which was awesome, since it was pouring down rain! We had great time together, but also got to enjoy the company of friends as well, which was really nice.

Both boys got to celebrate St. Patrick's Day at school. Preston even got to chase a leprechaun! He did not catch him, but he was sure excited to show us the "gold" that he was able to find!

U of L played the first round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Greg came over to watch the game with us and brought Elliott. The boys were excited for the surprise and spent lots of time playing with him. Also, the Cards won their game!

Go Cards! These pictures were actually taken on Sunday, before the the Cards played the second round game. Unfortunately, they lost. The boys looked super cute though. Plus, you can see their U of L spirit here, since they wore green shirts on St. Patty' Day!

Preston's Parents Day at Preschool

Preston's preschool recently hosted a special Parents Day. I was able to attend and I had a great time. Preston was SO happy to get to sing some special songs to me and to play the sand blocks during the time the class acted out, "We're Going on a Bear Hunt." My favorite part was when the teacher read each child's interview about his/her parents. It was hilarious! I love that when it was Preston's turn, that he said I looked pretty in my robe. He LOVES my old, pink fuzzy bathrobe, because he likes to snuggle up with me when I wear it. I think it is precious ! I love my sweet boy and the special times that we have together.

My 38th Birthday

I celebrated my 38th birthday last week! As with each birthday, I am always reminded that I am SO lucky to be alive. I am fortunate to get to get to enjoy each day with my family and friends and to enjoy many fun times together.

The morning of my birthday was great. Carl bought cinnamon rolls for all of us to share and everyone sang to me. I also got a gift card for a massage, which is a wonderful gift. I love getting massages, but I don't get them often, because they are pricey. With a gift card, I can go and enjoy myself and be guilt free! We had take out for dinner, which was so good since the boys got pretty cranky and though U of L also lost their basketball game, it was a good day.

Later in the week, we finished celebrating with a lunch date and U of L game. The Cards won and we had a great time. We also enjoyed dinner with my parents and had my favorite cheesecake for my birthday cake.

Carl and I had purchased tickets to the game and the plan was for both boys to stay with our babysitter, Bekah. Carl and I were going to enjoy a rare, day date. Grammy decided that she was not up for the game, so Granddaddy let Evan have her ticket. Since we don't get too much one-on-one time with Evan we decided to take him out to lunch! We had a great time and even had time to stop and play before the game.

Evan really enjoys getting to go see the Cards play with Granddaddy.

Dinner with my family was nice. We did not take more pictures, which makes me sad. Evan was super tired and my mom was not feeling well, so this is all we got. Oh well!

This post is totally out of order, but that is okay. We had these pictures taken the day after Christmas. It was a gift to my parents, as we have no professional pictures of them with the grandchildren or even of all of the grandchildren together. It was SO difficult to schedule. Heather and her family live out of town and tend to be busy seeing friends when they are in town. We also had to work around Mom and Dad's schedule as well. Plus, the holidays are a busy time for everyone. Thankfully, we did find a day that worked for all of us AND for the photographer. The pictures turned out great!
