Carl, Evan, and I went on vacation with Bonnie Mom and Grandpa to Michigan City, Indiana. We rented a house that was very close to the pool, the playground, and the beach at Lake Michigan. We spent a lot of time at the pool and at the beach, but we also got to climb a huge sand dune, shop, and visit the local zoo. We all had so much fun and Carl and I hope to be able to visit Michigan City again for vacation sometime soon.
Evan was a good traveller, but we did have to make a few stops so that Evan could play. Evan enjoyed looking for bugs at our first stop.

When we arrived at the vacation house, we went to the beach. Evan loved riding to the beach in the big wagon. He also loved it when Daddy pulled him very fast on the boardwalk.

Our first view of the beach!

Evan was so excited to get to the lake. He enjoyed putting his feet in the water and was not scared of the waves.

Evan was eager for Carl to join him in the water.

The next morning Evan got to swim in the lake. He was so happy!

Evan and Daddy had fun building sand castles. (Evan called them can sastles and also liked to knock the sand castles over as soon as they were built!)

Carl and I enjoyed the beach and the lake.

"Whee! This is fun Daddy!"

"I love you!"

Daddy buried Evan in the sand. He LOVED it!

Evan wants to be just like Daddy!

Carl and I went on an afternoon date while Evan napped. We had fun shopping and seeing the sights in New Buffalo.

Daddy took Evan out on the boat. He had a blast!

The pool was a lot of fun. As usual, Evan spent a lot of time jumping in the water.

Evan had fun swimming in the pool.

Evan also had fun going under the water!

Daddy taught Evan to find good skipping stones and tried to teach Evan how to make the stones skip across the water. Evan was not very successful in making the stones skip, but he had fun throwing them in the water anyway.

We all hiked up to the top of Mount Baldy, which is a HUGE sand dune. It was a lot of work, but it was worth it when we saw the views from the top of the dune. In this picture we just started our hike.

After a lot of work, we made it to the top of Mount Baldy!

Evan got tired of looking at the views of the lake and played in the sand.

The views from the top of the dune were pretty.

Once we climbed down the dune, which was MUCH easier than going up, we took another hike to the beach.

Evan found a sea gull feather on the beach and tried to give it back to the sea gulls. It was HILARIOUS!

We had fun swimming at the beach by our vacation house after hiking.

Daddy and Evan had fun splashing each other in the lake.

Evan had fun getting buried in the sand again.

Daddy helped Evan "catch" a dead fish. Evan REALLY liked the fish and was very sad when we placed it back in the lake.

Daddy enjoyed playing with Evan just as much as Evan enjoyed playing with Daddy.

Evan did a great job posing with Daddy while I took their picture.

By the time I was ready to take a picture of Grandpa, Daddy and Evan, Evan was finsihed posing.

Evan and Bonnie Mom had fun sifting the sand and finding pebbles.

Evan loved the sea gulls. He also loved chasing them along the beach!

Grandpa and Evan had fun playing together at the lake.

Carl and I went on another date to see the sunset at the lake, while Evan went to the playground with Grandpa and Bonnie Mom.

Evan had fun showing off for Grandpa!

Evan enjoyed his time at the park. He was all smiles!

We had a great time at the zoo. We enjoyed seeing all of the animals, especially the white tiger and the baby zebra.

The zoo had a large tower that you could climb. Once you made it to the top, you could see lots of Michigan City, including the beach and the lighthouse.

Evan enjoyed feeding the goats at the zoo.

Evan also had fun feeding the birds at the zoo.

After the zoo, Carl took Evan on a canoe ride.

Evan had fun in the canoe, even though it is hard to tell fom his expression in this picture.

There were some large waves on the lake on our last day of vacation. Evan walked right into the lake with the big waves. He was not scared at all!

Evan had fun playing in the waves with Daddy.

Evan also had fun playing in the waves all by himself!

The sunset on our last night at the beach was beautiful. It was a clear night and we could see the Chicago skyline.

On our last morning of vacation, we took one last trip to the beach.

Evan had fun finding skipping stones and throwing them in water.

It was hard to say goodbye to the beach.

We had a great vacation. Evan had so much fun that he fell asleep within minutes of heading home!
