Three Year Old Preschool
Preston began three year old preschool last week and I am happy to report that it was a wonderful experience. There were no tears at all and he always has positive things to say about his day. I was SO happy! He struggled in 2 year old preschool a bit, as he hated to be away from his family. He cried most days at drop off and the special holiday programs were overwhelming for him and he cried at almost every one. It was rare that he talked about preschool, unless it was to tell us that he did not want to go. Thankfully, all of the hard work his teachers did with him last year and the work we have done with him at home has paid off. He is so much more confident this year and he seems to really enjoy his time at school. We are excited for a great year and we can't wait to see how he progresses!

Potty Training Success!
Preston's preschool requests that all 3 year old children be potty trained. In order to be ready for school, we worked on potty training this summer. Preston understood what to do right away and he used the potty as soon as I removed his diaper. Once I put underwear on him, he got confused and had some accidents, but within just a couple of days, he was using the potty and rarely having accidents. We were SO proud of him! Way to go, Preston!
Preston LOVES his new underwear! What a big boy he is!

Evan Goes to Second Grade!
Evan is now a second grader at Chancey Elementary! He is in Mrs. Tegge's homeroom class and Mrs.Tegge is also his literacy teacher. Mrs. Milburn is his math teacher. I am friends with both of these ladies and they are GREAT teachers, so I am thrilled that Evan is getting to be taught by each of them. Although Evan was not too thrilled about school starting, he has adjusted well and is enjoying school. He is making new friends and always has something positive to say about school each day. I am looking forward to a great school year for our sweet second grader!
Orientation night was lots of fun and Evan was excited about school after meeting his new teachers!

The night before school started was lots of fun! Evan caught this huge bass! What a way to end the summer!
I took lots of pictures! Thankfully, Evan is a good sport! I really like his silly pictures, as they show his funny side!
Evan got a new backpack this year! He picked this one out all by himself. GO CARDS!
Evan was happy on this first day of school and he was not nervous at all!

When we got home, Evan said he had a great first day. He then told me take this picture, so I could "put it on Facebook." He is so funny!

The Koontz Family and The Congleton Family Take On Holiday World!
In the spring, Evan overheard Terri telling me that they purchased season passes to Holiday World and that they hoped we would join them sometime this summer. Of course, Evan remembers just about everything and has been asking to go to Holiday World with his friends all summer long. The summer seemed to pass quickly and suddenly we were at the last official weekend of summer, which for us, is the last weekend before school starts. Since we wanted summer to go out with a bang, we decided to make the trip to Holiday World last weekend. The Congleton's met us there and the kids had a great time at both the theme park and the water park. The adults were a bit overwhelmed, as it was super hot and VERY crowded. I am not sure that any of the adults really had a great time, but we were glad that the kids had so much fun together, so the trip was totally worth it!
The big boys posed for pictures, while the little boys rode on the canoe ride.
Preston really liked the carousel.
Fun at the water park!
The doggie roller coaster was so much fun! Although I did not get a picture of Preston riding, he had a ball! I think it was his favorite ride, although the water park slides were a close second!
The tea cups were fun too!
This boy had too much fun to nap while we were at Holiday World. He was asleep within minutes of leaving the park and getting his blankets. Sweet boy!
Since we had a busy day, we ended the night with dinner and movies. It was a nice way to end the day.

Birthday Boys and The Nickels Visit Louisville
The Nickels visited Louisville, so that Jackson could attend camp with Kids Cancer Alliance. This meant that we got to hang out with Aunt Heather, Caleb and Emily for a couple of days. Although Jackson was at camp for most of their visit, we were able to see him on Sunday for a combined birthday celebration for Carl and Granddaddy.
Although the big birthday celebration was fun, I think the boys and I had the most fun celebrating with Carl here at the house on his actual birthday. It was a pretty low key celebration, but we had lots of fun. We had dinner together, ate birthday brownies, gave his presents, etc. He really liked his "party" and I think we made him feel pretty special, which was definitely the goal. He is a great father and husband, so we certainly wanted him to have a great birthday!
The boys were SO excited for Daddy to come home! They waited on the front porch so that they could see him come home, but then ran inside and hid so that could "surprise him!"
We made a birthday brownie and Preston insisted on helping me decorate it!
They boys made Daddy an awesome birthday card, with a little help from me.
These boys sure do love Daddy!
Preston continues to crack us up with his "cheese" smiles!
Once the boys went to bed, it was time for Daddy to play with his gift! A Lego Millennium was just the right gift!
Pool fun!
Although Preston can jump in and swim to the side of the pool by himself, he REALLY liked jumping to Caleb.
Aunt Heather and Evan
Emily and Aunt Rachael
Evan had lots of fun playing with his cousins at the party!
Preston wanted to help Granddaddy open his gifts and then Emily and Jackson joined him.
Evan, Emily and Caleb made a HUGE mess, but they sure had fun!
Granddaddy and Preston enjoyed playing together, which they always do.
