On Saturday, Carl, Evan, and I went downtown to see the fireworks and to let Evan participate in the activities for kids. We all had a lot of fun and we even made time for a trip to the science center to see an Elmo exhibit and to have dinner at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. (Unfortunately, I forgot to take the camera, so I have no pictures from that night.)
On Sunday our neighborhood hosted a big Independence Day celebration. We usually invite a lot of people over for the celebration and have a big party, but since we had to leave the next morning for vacation, we decided to have a small gathering of a few close friends and family. We had fun participating in the parade, playing in the bouncer, making pizza for dinner, and seeing the fireworks show.
Ashley and I decorated the wagon for the parade. Trevor and Evan also "helped."
Although it was hot, we all walked to the main street for the parade.
The boys were so good while we waited for the parade to begin.
The boys LOVED the parade! The police cars, tractor, horses and firetruck were a big hit!
We were able to join the parade!
The skydiver was cool!
The flag was raised and we all sang the National Anthem.
Evan enjoyed watching the fireworks with Granddaddy.

The fireworks were great. Evan is STILL talking about them! Of course, Evan has been talking about the fireworks since Thunder Over Louisville too! He is a HUGE firework fan!
