Then and Now

As most of you know, Evan is sick with RSV and is requiring breathing treatments. Just as on his actual "birth day" he had trouble breathing, he also had trouble breathing on his first birthday.

THEN

NOW

When I was undergoing chemotherapy treatments, Evan and I looked a lot alike. We both had bald heads! Now that my hair is growing back in, we look alike again! We both have short, curly hair!

Snow!

Last night it snowed here in Louisville. It wasn't a lot, but it was the first time that it has snowed this winter where the snow actually didn't quickly melt away. Carl, Evan and I went out this morning and bought a small sled. We bundled Evan in a coat, hat, and a couple layers of clothes and took him outside for some fun! (He REFUSED to wear gloves!) We ALL had a great time. I think that Carl and I might have actually had more fun than Evan! It was really fun to watch Evan having such a good time! He loved his sled. Carl pulled him around and we let him go down a very small "hill" in our driveway. Evan laughed and clapped. The only part that Evan did not like was touching the snow. I guess it was too cold for him! I am hopeful that it will snow again soon!

Christmas and Visiting Great Grandma

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. Evan really liked playing with his new toys and eating all of the food. On Christmas Eve, we went to church and then out to dinner at a Chinese restaurant. On Christmas morning, Carl, Evan and I opened our presents here at home and had breakfast. We then celebrated with my parents at their home, where we also had lunch. Later that night, we came back home where we celebrated with Carl's family and had dinner. It was quite tiring, but very fun. I am already looking forward to next Christmas!

We travelled to Tennessee right before Christmas so that Evan could visit his great grandmother. He had a great time and so did she! It was really fun to see them both together! There is a picture from Christmas below, where Evan is enjoying his new rocking horse. It was his gift from Great Grandma. You can tell he loves it!

First U of L Game

Evan went to his fist U of L game last week! He was surprisingly good. He enjoyed clapping and "cheering" for the cards. He also made many friends with the people around us. What a ham!

First Haircut

Evan got his first haircut on Chirtmas Eve. He just needed a trim, so he doesn't look different, just more "polished." He was really good while Brooke cut his hair. He especially liked playing with the comb! Here are a few pictures from the big event!

Visit With Santa

As usual, we took our dogs to The Kentucky Humane Society fundraiser, Picture Your Pet With Santa. We decided to let Evan visit with Santa too! Unfortunately, while Evan was very interested in Santa, the chaos of the day made for a not so great picture. As you can see, NO ONE looks happy in this picture, not even Santa!

We recently took Evan to visit Santa at the mall. This trip was much more fun for everyone! Evan loved seeing Santa. He even gave us a great big smile while he sat on Santa's lap. This picture is much better!

Survivor

I am now officially a one year cancer survivor! While one year ago today was one of the scariest days of my life, today is truly a day of celebration. I have successfully made it through surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. My mammogram and ultrasound this week showed NO SIGNS of cancer! Today I celebrate being a survivor. When I look back at the past year, I remember all of the wonderful people that helped care for me and encourage me. I could not have made it through this past year without all of the supportive and caring people in my life. I am grateful for you all! Thank you!
